Help us Build a New Model of Care for Kids and Adolescents

Blackbird is the only mental health practice dedicated to achieving better outcomes, faster, by taking the trial and error out of diagnosis and treatment for kids and young adults struggling with social developmental and school related challenges.

Our Mission and Clinical Approach

We believe that our youth deserve the very best care, not only for their physical health, but also for their mental health. Putting it simply, our model is just different. Through our neuroscience-led assessment, we work to identify the root of the problem, below the diagnosis.  Since root causes can be across a broad array of domains, including behavioral, genetic, physical, cognitive, sensory/motor, speech and language and psychological, we require an interdisciplinary team of experts to provide the right combination of treatments integrated in the right way. And, it means, we get better results with fewer uses of medication.

Because of this, you are part of a village that has been brought together to support the child and family. What that means for you is that you finally get to work with a broad interdisciplinary team to address the whole child and treat the underlying root of the problem, not just the symptoms.

Joining Blackbird means helping to build a new clinical care model for kids redesigned for real results.

Our Commitment to Our Care Team

In order to fulfill our ambitious mission of supporting children with the very best care, we must build the best possible care team. Our clinicians are integral to the success of our patients and our mission and we are excited to welcome more compassionate, inspired, thought leaders to our growing clinical team.

If you care deeply about helping others, and are eager to join a collaborative, innovative community where you will be encouraged and supported to thrive both personally and professionally, Blackbird is a great place to advance your career. We offer flexible working schedules from part time to full time roles that fit with your life and professional goals. We foster independence while providing the right kinds of support and training when you need it and we offer growth opportunities to specialize in different populations, different modalities, and different specialties to build your career the way you want to.

We want your time here to be the most meaningful of your career. Join us, and help change mental health care for kids for the better.

What do we really mean by integrated care and faster outcomes?

Learn directly from our clinicians on our unique clinical approach and company culture:

“As a Nurse Practitioner, we are trained to think holistically. We look beyond an individual's diagnosis to all aspects of their health to ultimately treat the whole person. For many of us, this is why we went into nursing, but it's not always the reality we live every day. A siloed and fragmented delivery system coupled with short, condensed appointments barely allow us to scratch the surface with a client to truly understand what might be going on. That's where Blackbird is different.  We are afforded the time to go deep with patients and figure out what is really driving symptoms.”

- Travis O'Brien, CRNP, PMHNP-BC

"As a therapist there is a balance that is hard to achieve. We want to have independence to manage our clients and caseloads in order to create strong alliances with our clients and create the most clinical impact we can. We want to have independence for care decisions that make sense for the client and not feel micromanaged and overly manualized in our methods. The other side of the coin is the need to feel connected, to have a team of peers to lean on, a supervisor to lift us up and challenge our skills, to have access to additional supportive interventions and services and not feel solely responsible for all aspects of care (not to mention the stress of navigating managing our own business and financials). Blackbird’s ability to strike that balance is what makes it a special place to work."

- Lorraine Baltz, LMFT
